Every driver invoiced, paid and on record. One payment from you.
Send us the week's work. Clever Pay raises every driver's invoice, pays each one on your schedule and keeps the compliance paperwork in order, so your team can get on with running routes.
Week ending Sunday · 25 drivers
| A. Patel Paid | £812.00 |
| J. Okafor Paid | £745.50 |
| M. Nowak Same-day | £690.00 |
| + 22 more drivers | £16,502.50 |
Pick your pay schedule. We do the rest.
Every plan includes bulk self-billing, driver payments and the compliance work behind them. The only thing that changes is how often your drivers get paid.
Weekly
Drivers paid every week. The most popular choice for courier and delivery work.
Fortnightly
One run every two weeks. Fewer payments to fund, still regular for drivers.
Monthly
One run a month, lined up with your own month-end. Best for larger, settled teams.
Same-day
For the urgent one-off: a driver's invoice raised and paid on the day, once your funds reach us.
Bulk self-billing
One upload of the week's work becomes an invoice for every driver, raised on their behalf under a signed self-billing agreement.
Compliance taken care of
ID, right-to-work, insurance and UTR collected and checked before anyone is paid, with reminders before documents run out.
Accountancy on top
Bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, CIS and year-end accounts for your business, and tax returns for your drivers. Quoted separately.
One upload in. Every driver paid out.
You deal with one provider and make one payment. Clever Pay handles everything between you and your drivers.
The run-through, step by step
Set up once
We agree your pay schedule and fee, and sign a self-billing agreement with each of your drivers. Most firms are ready inside a week.
Drivers join and upload documents
Each driver gets their own Clever Pay login and uploads ID, right-to-work, insurance and their UTR. We check them before anyone is paid.
Send the work
At the end of each period, send the work done: a spreadsheet, a route export or a list. One file covers every driver.
We raise every invoice
An invoice is raised for each driver on their behalf. You get one summary to approve, showing every driver's total and the fee.
One payment, every driver paid
You make one payment. We pay each driver and their invoice appears in their account. Urgent cases can be paid the same day.
Records kept and reported
Every invoice, payment and document is kept on file. You get a report for your accounts, and we chase documents before they expire.
A small percentage of what you pay out. Nothing else.
The processing fee covers bulk invoicing, driver payments and compliance. No set-up fee. If no work is done, nothing is invoiced and nothing is charged.
| Example: 25 drivers, £750 each a week | Fee | Cost per week of work |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly pay run | 2% | £375.00 |
| Fortnightly pay run | 1.5% | £281.25 |
| Monthly pay run | 1% | £187.50 |
| Same-day payment for one driver (£750) | 2.5% | £18.75 that invoice |
Small team?
Under ten drivers, a flat £9.99 + VAT per driver, per week is usually cheaper. We'll tell you which works out better for you.
Accountancy and extra services
Bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll, CIS and company accounts are quoted separately, based on what you need.
Better for the people doing the work.
Drivers stay with firms that pay them properly and on time. Clever Pay gives them that, without extra work for you.
No invoice to write
Their invoice is raised for them every period. No templates, no chasing, no emails.
Paid when promised
A fixed pay day they can plan around, and a same-day option when something urgent comes up.
Everything in one account
Every invoice, payment and document in their own login, on their phone, whenever they need it.
Documents kept in date
A reminder before insurance or right-to-work runs out, so nobody is stopped from working.
Help with their tax
Self-assessment and bookkeeping support from the same team that already holds their records.
A real person to ask
Questions about pay go to the Clever Pay team, not your operations manager.

Good to know
What is self-billing?
An arrangement where the business raises the invoice on the worker's behalf, under a written agreement both sides sign. HMRC allows it, and it saves drivers from writing their own invoices. Clever Pay runs it for you.
Who pays the processing fee?
The business. It's a percentage of the total invoiced, shown on the summary you approve before each run. Drivers receive their full agreed pay.
How does same-day payment work?
If a driver needs paying urgently, tell us before the cut-off. We raise their invoice and pay it the same working day once your funds reach us. It's charged at 2.5% of that invoice only.
What compliance do you cover?
We collect and check each driver's ID, right-to-work, insurance and UTR before they are paid, hold signed self-billing agreements, keep every invoice and payment on record, and remind drivers before documents expire.
Can we change schedule later?
Yes. You can move between weekly, fortnightly and monthly with notice before the next run.
What if no work is done one week?
No work means no invoice and no fee.
Tell us about your team
How many drivers you pay and how often. We'll come back with the schedule and fee that fit, and a worked example using your numbers.
